Project 008 – Connecticut Country House

For a client that lives mainly in New York City, the goal was to create a year-round retreat for weekends and summers. A few directives from them: warm colors, English countryside, soft florals, comfortable – grounded the design strategy. A pleasing mixture of antique Persian rugs, richly hued upholstery, and antique furniture create a layered, collected feeling. An oversized drawing by Rick Shaefer hanging over the ochre colored sofa in the living room feels like a modern day tapestry in its detail and dramatic effect. In the stair hall, an Indian floral motif is stenciled on grasscloth covered walls creating a lovely passageway throughout the house.
