Project 001 – Briarcliff House

This house was originally built in the 1920’s as the President’s home of a small private college. A large staircase clad in a luxurious custom carpet highlights the intricate millwork, while a contemporary light sculpture made of bamboo by Andrea Claire introduces a contemporary element to the space. A serious English Regency sofa upholstered in a casual ticking stripe is an unexpected compliment to the sleek steel center table. Just off the entry, an antique Turkish Ghiordes rug takes pride of place in the living room, bringing warmth and elegance to the mix of contemporary, vintage, and antique furnishings. Upstairs, the primary bedroom is a restful retreat – its walls covered in antiqued tea paper with a gauzy canopy bed floating over a custom wool rug.
